This CZO project supplement will create a new data publication model for data generated by a group of CZO projects. This involves data modeling for several types of data collected at CZO sites (hydrologic observations, geochemical, biological, etc.), and development of common data formats. The outline of the system is as follows: data are exported from CZO data management systems, placed at CZO web sites and registered in CZO catalogs; the catalog information is regularly harvested by the data publication system; if new data records are discovered they are retrieved into servers at SDSC, automatically loaded in a database, and exposed as services. In case of hydrologic observations, the data are exposed as CUAHSI water data services. The services are then registered in a CZO-branded portal, and can be retrieved, analyzed and visualized using CZO-branded versions of Hydroseek and HydroDesktop.

Our primary partners in this project are CZOs at UC-Boulder (Boulder Creek CZO), University of Pennsylvania (Luquillo CZO), University of Arizona (Jemez River Basin and Santa Catalina Mountains CZO), University of California - Merced (Southern Sierra CZO), Pennsylvania State University (Shale Hills Susquehanna CZO) and the Univ of Delaware/Stroud Water Research Center (Christina River Basin CZO). Besides the data publication system described above, we develop virtual HIS servers for experimental use by the CZOs.

The primary goal of these pages is to organize materials supporting the ongoing discussion of data models and data formats used by the CZOs, and the overall system design.
